## The vision

Snare is the request bin developers actually trust: open it, point your webhook at it, see exactly what arrived — in one click, for free, hosted in Europe, forever. A request bin is a small, sharp, universally-needed utility. It doesn't need to be a platform; it needs to be instant, complete, trustworthy, and free.

## Why free, always

This is a product decision, and it's locked. The category rewards generosity: the tools people love are the ones that didn't nickel-and-dime them mid-emergency. A free tool that is better than the paid ones on the core job is a category-defining position.

Free does not mean unsustainable or careless. It means the user never pays. Costs are met through low unit cost and lightweight, non-coercive funding — never a paywall, never ads that degrade the experience, and never selling captured request data. That last one is a hard ethical and legal line.

## Who it's for

The primary user is a working developer mid-integration: backend and full-stack engineers wiring up webhooks for payments, version control, CI, CRMs and IoT callbacks; API consumers reverse-engineering an undocumented callback; QA and integration engineers verifying outbound requests; and educators who need a safe, visible endpoint to demonstrate HTTP.

## EU trust & sustainability

Snare is hosted in Germany, with data residency stated plainly rather than buried. Retention is short and explicit, deletion is one click, and assets are self-hosted. For EU teams handling payloads that may contain personal data, that posture isn't a nice-to-have — it's the point.

Sustainability comes from keeping the scope tiny and the unit cost low, not from monetising you. A beloved, free, EU-hosted utility is its own reward — and its own best distribution.
